Wildlife Hazard Management: UNEXPECTED WILDLIFE ENCOUNTER AT ORLANDO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT! An unexpected visitor briefly disrupted airport operations at Orlando International Airport (MCO) on Monday evening, November 2, when an alligator was spotted casually crossing Taxiway B. Airport operations were briefly paused as ground personnel were dispatched to safely remove the alligator from the taxiway, preventing a potential collision with aircraft and ensuring the animal's safety. While wildlife encounters are not unusual at airports, this incident highlights an important but often overlooked aspect of airport operations: wildlife hazard management. Airports, particularly those surrounded by natural habitats, wetlands and open grasslands, face ongoing challenges from birds, mammals and reptiles that can wander onto runways and taxiways. Effective wildlife management involves: - Regular inspections of runways, taxiways and airport perimeters. - Wildlife monitoring and hazard assessments. - Habitat management to discourage animals from entering aircraft movement areas. - Trained wildlife control teams to safely relocate animals. - Coordination between air traffic control, airport operations and flight crews. This unusual encounter at Orlando is a reminder that airport safety isn't just about aircraft, pilots and air traffic controllers. Sometimes, it also involves making sure the wildlife gets safely across the tarmac! 🎥Commercial-Host-725 #AviationSafety #WildlifeManagement #AirportOperations #AviationNews
